The single bloodiest day in American history. We have read the stories, seen the pictures, but to walk the battlefield, walk down “Bloody Lane” imagining the men that both lived and died here. What they experienced on that day. Standing still I imagined how horrible that day was. How scared those boys must have been and how brave they were. I could sense the ghost that my still linger.

This battlefield is like no other that I have been on. Most battlefields I always take time to sit and think about the sacrifices these men made. But this battlefield made my hair stand on end.

If you are near Sharpsburg and Gettysburg this is worth the time to stop. The Burnside Bridge has recently been reconstructed after part of it fell in the river.
