I asked Bruce “What are the most essential things a person should have on hand when traveling with an RV”. He quickly said AAA Card, and a Pocket full of cash. But all joking aside, we have a list that we always have on us.

• Zip ties

• Duct Tape

• Light Tester

• OHM Tester

• Standard Hand Tools

• Rags

• WD40

Break Down

In 2017 Bruce was traveling from Birmingham Alabama to Akin South Carolina. The main serpentine belt broke and left him stranded
on the side of the road around 11:00 pm. He was unable to find a belt to fit the bus.

Get Creative

His first attempt to fix the issue was to use nylons. He had been told they can work in a pinch. Unfortunately, this did not work.
He then used Zip ties. The Zip ties held together to get him the rest of the way into the RV park in Akin.

Window Repair

The windows on our 1998 Beaver Coach needed new seals. In 2018 we found a great place in Hudson, Florida called Suncoast Designers, Inc. They took out the windows one day and the next day they had the windows ready to put back in. They have full RV hook-ups. You can stay there with your RV overnight if you wish.

If all else fails call the Big Guy…REALLY BIG TOW TRUCK!

In August of 2019 Bruce was bringing the bus back home to Kansas from Dover, Delaware. Halfway home the bus died. He was able to pull the bus over to the off ramp. After a lot of trouble shooting and getting a few parts he finally threw in the towel and called AAA. We have AAA RV Roadside. The Bus broke down in Illinois… had it towed back to Indiana.

Thompson Diesel in Terre Haute, IN has a great Diesel shop. Bruce left the Bus with them and drove back home. They were great to work with and kept Bruce updated on what they were doing. We have used them for other repair work on the Bus and highly recommend them.
