Located in the White Mountains Mount Washington has some of the most breathtaking views of New Hamshire. It is the highest peak in the Northeast at 6,288 feet. The weather is unpredictable. Many of the gear you buy for winter adventures is tested at the top of the mountain. The drive up the mountain was a little scary. There are many areas to pull off and go for a hike. The mountain flowers were beautiful in June. We started at the bottom at 85 degrees. By the time we got to the top, we were putting on our sweatshirts. The temps had dropped down into the 60s with the wind. The view from the top made it all worthwhile. This is on private land. There is a charge to drive up the mountain. If you are scared of heights it is suggested that you might not want to take the drive. There is a train in Jackson, New Hampshire that goes to the top. I believe the cost was $70 per person. We went up the mountain late in the day. Going up you meet other vehicles and must hug the inside of the mountain road. The last car that can go up is at 4:00 pm. We left the top of the mountain at 5:00 pm and had the entire road to use going down. I highly recommend going up to Mount Washington if you like an adventure. There is a great museum at the top.
